Introduced as a special chase card for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, Gold Star cards have a pull rate of only one per every 2 boxes, and as such command tremendous premiums as a result. All Gold Stars cards were designed with the shiny color variation from the original video games, which is why this Charizard is black with red wings as opposed to the usual coloration. They also introduced to the card game the concept of illustrations that extended onto the border of the cards. The Charizard Gold Star designed by Masakazu Fukuda exhibits breathtaking rendition of the fire-breathing Pokemon that has become a fan favorite. This Charizard is extremely difficult to grade in a PSA 10 GEM MINT due to EX Dragon Frontiers having a poor print quality run and factory black print lines appearing on the holo surface of many cards, which makes it even more impressive to obtain a GEM MINT Charizard like this with a PRISTINE holo surface. Bidders are encouraged to look at high-resolutions scans to see the immaculate surface condition for themselves. One of only 91 PSA 10s currently graded, this card is one of the most popular Gold Stars ever made and a lynchpin for any Charizard or Gold Star collection. One of over 26,000 cards, lots and sets up for bid in our February Auction of 2021. Click on the link above to view the other PWCC auction lots.
